Im under 14 and this past Christmas I went to New York with my mom's friend but the lady didnt know that and she said "You cant travel by yourself until your 14". Is this depending on the airline or what??? Because Im thinking about traveling by myself this Christmas!

  1. It depends on the airline. Each has their own age limit for travel by minors (unaccompanied) and they will differ. There is no federal guideline or law pertaining to the independent travel of minors, with the possible exception of the "Mann Act" which makes it a crime for an adult to take (or cause to travel) a minor across state lines for immoral purposes.

  2. I think at 14 you may travel unaccompanied, as an "unaccompanied minor." There is an extra charge and an adult must meet you at your destination.
