  1. Generally speaking, the student has to be in good standing with their school they're already enrolled in.  Like, you can't be some juvenile delinquent applying to homeschool, because if your parents couldn't control you already, the state will assume they still can't.  You can't be expelled from school and get approval to homeschool for the same reason -- the state would make you go to some alternative school.  But pretty much anybody else can be approved for homeschooling as long as they comply with the rules of their state.  www.hslda.org    As far as convincing your parents, that's a whole 'nother ball game!

  2. "I want to be Home Schooled" is a perfectly legitimate reason. You don't need to come up with any special justification :-)

  3. oh course!

  4. It depends on where you live but generally, no. You have to have your parents' permission and (hopefully) their support but, other than that, there are usually no other requirements.

There are conditions and requirements you have to meet though if you want to do Homebound Schooling (via your local school/school district) or enrol in one of the public (i.e. non-fee paying) Schools of Distance Education; therefore you need to be clear about the precise type of 'schooling at home' you wish to do.

If you want to be home schooled (proper), you need to ask your 'I want to be Home Schooled, will you let me?' question of your parents (and not the school etc). It is for your parents - and only your parents - to decide whether or not you're allowed to homeschool (proper).

(but if you're wanting to do a homebound programme of homeschooling or publicly funded programme of distance education at home, then you may need the permission of others such as your current school etc)

  5. Anyone can be homeschooled as long as their parents can meet the legal requirements for their state (assuming you live in the U.S. there are some countries that don't allow homeschooling).

To find out the laws in your state go to:

    http://www.hslda.org/laws/default.asp

  6. Anyone can be home schooled (this is still a free country) but you need to contact your states office of public instruction regarding what testings are obligatory. Good luck.

  7. Anyone is allowed to be homeschooled as long as they follow the law in the state they reside in.

Homebound education-different from homeschooling-does have qualifications you have to meet in order to be able to participate in.  It is most common among children with health issues.

  8. all states are different. call your local school board and they will explain

  9. Will who let you? The government? Yes. Your parents? Not necessarily.

  10. Each state has different laws and guidelines about who can be home schooled and whether or not the parents need teaching credentials or at least a bachelor's degree, etc... check out the link to see what the state's guidelines are so you are at least more informed.

  11. If you're in a country where homeschooling is legal, the only conditions that have to be met are:

    1) Your parents have to agree

    and

    2) You have to be willing to do the work, to keep yourself accountable without a teacher scheduling every minute of the day.

Other than that, yes.  Your parents can pull you from school (subject to the laws of your state) and just start homeschooling you.  If you're in the US, there are different laws and regs in every state; in other countries, it all depends - there may be a nationwide law, or provincial or state laws.  Let us know where you live and we can point you in the right direction.

The only reason you need is that you and your parents believe that homeschooling will be a better choice for you.  The only country that I'm aware of that won't let you say this is Germany...they're still operating under educational laws set up by Hitler and would remove you from your family, send your parents to jail, and put you in an institution until they agreed to send you to a state-run school.  Nice, huh?
