My son has been invited to attend Brown University because of his athletic abilities, but we're definitely middle class, not at all wealthy. The Ivy League was never even on our radar. How well do poor kids fit in on campus? Tell the truth.

  1. I can't speak for Brown but I can speak for my undergrad School: Hobart and William Smith.

Honestly money doesn't matter as the kids who care about their money are maybe 1% of all there. And being accepted for Athletics at my college is a great thing as I was for sailing. Being middle class means nothing if you are considering yourself poor. I am from a lower middle class family and I never felt looked down upon from other people. heck their were people there.

    Money doesn't matter in college.

  2. A friend's son, also very middle class (probably a bit below mid-level) got into Brown and really enjoyed it.  According to David, there is much more emphasis on your intellect than on your bank account, and he is brilliant!
