Do you have to change tires if you change wheels (rims)?

Question

I was wondering if you change the rims on a car, do you have to change the tires as well to match the size of the rims or something?

I want http://wheelstudio.com/catalog/product_info.php/products_id/6859 and I was just browsing and clicked click here to see it fits and when I choose the car and stuff it lists wheels and tire package... so i was just wondering

if the rims are the same size then no

If the rims are a bigger size than the ones currently on the vehicle the answer is yes. The circumference of the tire will not match if you buy a bigger rim and expect your old tire to fit on there.

As long as you stick the same diameter wheels of your present tires there will be no problem. It's best to choose wheels with the same rear off-set as your present wheels for clearance, wheel bearing life and steering geometry. tirerack.com can advise you exactly what bolt pattern and wheel off-set will fit properly.
