  1. correct answer... yes and no.

    if you have a multi-day pass or annual pass you have to use the thumb scanner to make sure the ticket belongs to you. if you do not want to use the thumb scan, you can tell the cast member and you would have to show a valid photo ID.  if you have an issue with germs, just carry some hand sanitizer and apply it after using the scanner. if you are trying to use someone else pass, then don't because if the ID does not match they will know what you are up to.

Disney World does use what is known as Biometrics.  So when you enter Disney World you actually have your index finger scanned.  They don't actually scan your fingerprints but take in the geometry of your finger.  When it first started a couple of years ago they used scanners that needed two fingers.  Recently they changed the system to now only use the index finger.

    You do not "have" to do this.  But if you don't you would have to show a Picture ID instead.
