  1. They do not last as long as four strokes mind you. Because of their combustion chamber's need for perfect fuel mixture all the time they wear and can get harmful c**p in there from riding

  2. They are not more work than a comparable 4 stroke, meaning comparing a 125 2 stroke MX bike to a 250 4 stroke MX bike. The 2 stroke will generally need to be rebuilt sooner if you run the c**p out of it, but it is less expensive to rebuild than a 4 stroke. The maintenance between 2 and 4 strokes are the same except for the fact that on a 4 stroke you also have to check valve clearance on a regular basis. 2 strokes aren't going away in the next few years, but the 125 2 stroke may very well be a thing of the past soon. Kawasaki has already dropped their 125 from the lineup.

  3. first things first,

a 2 stroke is indeed a lot faster than a 4 stroke but... If your going to buy one you might want to buy it fast because this year or next year is the last year they make 2 strokes!

for reason such as noise, and too many people getting hurt

    but..

a 2 stroke will not last as long

and is a bit more work/ pain

it gets a bit annoying having to mix gas and work on it

but all in all for doing things like that both 4 stroke and 2 stroke can do it but a 2 stroke will be easier to do it with =P

  4. They are more work. But, you should follow all the normal maintenance.

Clean and oil air filter after every Race/ride

    Chain-check and adjust as need

    Pressure wash and clean

Change the gear oil depending on how much time it's ridden

As for being a 2stroke- you will need to keep an idea of how many hours you ride it. If your racing alot, you will need to replace the top end on regular intervals. (piston and rings)

IF your someone who doesn't have mechanical skills and/or has poor maintenance, I'd look for a four stroke.

  5. you are not going to do any of that stuff.

    you are a squid.
