  1. First of all They Are Called Academies not military schools. But no you do not go through basic training  before entering the Academies. Beast Barracks is the term for the period of training  for plebes (4th classmen) prior to the start of the

    academic year in September. It helps weed out those who are perhaps not suited for that service.

    At West point, the summer before the school year starts.

    You go to Cadet Basic Training, which is 6 weeks long.
