Do you have to go to school to be a vet technician?

the vet i work at trains techs themselves, i am just wondering if other vets require you go to school first...

There are specific vet tech schools, usually takes 2 years to complete.  It depends on the vet as to whether or not you need to go to school or if you can be trained on the job.  Some vets will ONLY hire a RVT (Registered Vet Tech), while others will hire you with some experience, or are willing to train their tech themselves.  If you have completed school in this field..you can get paid a higher salary then someone who has no schooling.
