  1. For the qualifications in Iowa you can google the department of human services and access the manual for child care centers to find out what is required.  I know that the director of my center has a four year degree that is not in early childhood, but she also used to be the assistant director.  I also know that our teachers are not required (by state) to have any type of degree, but the center encourages leads to get a Child Development Associate (from the federal government) certificate.

    Hope this helps.

  2. you will need a degree in early chieldhood development.

  3. Here in Hawaii a Masters degree in Early Childhood Education is best. Plus teaching experience. It does vary by state.

  4. I know that in California you need to have some ECE (Early Childhood Education) credits in order to work at a preschool.  However, if it is just a daycare, then that may be something different.

To be a director of one, I don't know the exact requirements, but if it was me, I might look into at least some buisness management courses, or maybe child psychology.

  5. I am the director and owner of my own preschool and I have my CDA - it's a requirement to have some sort of ECE education to do these things.  Good luck - you can do it!

  6. In Michigan you have to have at least an associates in early childhood development, with so many hours of experience, and you have to be at least 21-years-old.  Also you have 12 clock hours of training a year, as well as first aid, CPR, blood borne pathogen training, and shaken baby training.  I would think most states have similar requirements.  Even teachers of the classrooms have to have at least 6 credits of early childhood education.

  7. I believe you do in most states (Ohio being one of them).  In Ohio you must have a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education (pre-K through 3rd).

  8. all states have their own guidelines about what it takes to be a director.  go to http://nrc.uchsc.edu/ and check out your state.  i have been a director in 2 states (va and mo) and both will accept years of experience in a licensed facility and a certain amount of college credits in e.c.e.
