  1. you grandma can teach you!

  2. You can always read how-to-sew books (I think there's a Dummy's Guide to Sewing; they're very helpful). There's always online videos you can search for.

You don't always have to go to school in order to learn a specific thing. Is there such thing as how-to-write-a-book school or how-to-be-a-queen school?

  3. No, you don't have to go to school.

Singer used to offer free classes, and classes can be helpful.

Call around to see if there are any sewing classes at your community center.

I learned from a book with pictures and directions.

There are some online sites, too.

    Just remember to start simple.

  4. No you don't have to go to sewing school, I learnt to sew by watching my mother, and through trial and error on my own.  You can buy lots of simple to sew patterns at the fabric store, and most of the woman there are really helpful and clever seamstresses, they will offer you advise.  You just have to start with something simple and small,  like maybe an apron, or pillow covers or something. There are also lots of helpful hints and tips on line.   I started by making  halloween costumes for my kids.

Just don't spend too much money on your first project.

  5. no you dont yes there is another way to learn

  6. No, you don't need to go to sewing school but it would help.  If you have a friend or relative that sews, they can teach you.  You can also go to a sewing or yard goods store, ask the clerk to help you find a very simple pattern, they have some that are estimated can be sewed in one hour (if it takes you longer, its ok).  The clerk will also be willing to answer sewing questions.  I wish my nieces or great nieces would ask me to show them how but they arent' interested.

  7. You can learn on your own, with a good sewing book and, a basic sewing machine. Start with basic pillows and home crafts, you learn a lot about seams and placing fabrics upright, etc.

I taught myself, although I can't say I'm an expert seamstress.

  8. All you have to do is

    * Ask somebody to teach that knows how to sew

    * Go to Wikihow.com and search "How to Sew"

    * Go to your library and look for a book about sewing

    Hope this helped

  9. Nope. I learned from watching my mother and grandmother.

I did take Home-ec in school, and part of it was about sewing. But it was a huge waste of time and I didn't learn a blessed thing- except how utterly incompetent the so-called teacher was!
