Do you have to have HD reception to watch hd movies??

i just bought a tv that is hd i have regular cable tv running throuh it, i do not want to change my service.. my question is do i need that to watch a hd movie? I am looking into a plyer but do not want to invest if I can't use it???

  1. If your cable subscriber is Comcast you only pay extra $5/month, then you can received HD signal.

  2. You can watch HD movies without HD service as long as you have a HD DVD player.
