do you need to have a written consent from your boyfriend or partner to have his sample taken for artificial insemination? would you go to jail if the sample of your boyfriend's or partner was taken without his knowledge or consent? please enlighten me. thanks!

  2. A sample could not be "taken" from a man and used in fertility treatment without him knowing it!

    Without fertility treatments, women have been known to take a used condom and try to insert the swimmers themselves . . . I suppose it could work but would be nearly impossible to prove as condoms do have a certain failure rate.

    It is IMPOSSIBLE for a woman to take a sample, bring it to a clinic and go through artificial insemination without her partner's knowledge - in fact HE would need to either bring in his sample in a sterile cup (or a specially designed condom that could NOT be mistaken for a regular condom) or he would have to produce it at the clinic.  He would be required to show ID, sign paper work and be involved in the process - this is beyond written consent, he would have to be there in person.  There is NO way that he could NOT know what was happening.  She would not be allowed to just bring in a sample.  There is also a timing issue - if you produce your sample at home, it must be at the clinic in less than an hour for usage.
