Do you have to have a flat stomach to wear this kind of dress?

Has anyone tried this style of dress? Do you think "curves" would show in this dress, if you're not flat and have a bit of lower stomach?

Thanks!

  1. I think if your chest is too big the ribbon will not fall in the right place depending how how much lower your lower stomach is that might not be a big deal because the dress flows out a little.

  2. That is the kind of dress that would suck in imperfections.  That kind of dress is usually a corsetted top or more fitted, so it's great at hiding any imperfections in the mid-section.  I suggest trying on a similar style and seeing how you like it and if you're comfortable.

  3. That dress is beautiful!  But I have the simplest solution for that little pooch...Wear Spanx!  It will flatten it out so you don't have to worry about it.  By the way, it really won't show in that dress, but if you don't want to be self-concious about it, buy the Spanx and feel confident!

You can buy them at www.spanx.com or at department stores like Macy's and Nordstrom.

Good luck!  I'm sure you'll look amazing!

  4. I think that could be good for un-flat stomachs, it could create the illusion of a flatter and firmed midsection.  Oh course, to know for sure, try it on.

  5. This is a good dress for any body style. If you are still unsure about your tummy I'd recommend getting any kind of shaper. I'm an event consultant and I work with a lot of brides, and I can tell you a lot of women do it. It makes you feel more comfortable about yourself on your big day! I'd recommend getting one from http://www.fredericks.com/ they also have some s**y corsets, if you got a white one you could wear it under the dress and already be ready for the honeymoon ;) lol

  6. You'd have to try it on, but I think it would work. The little ribbon right under the bust will draw attention to a slim part of you, while the poofy skirt will help deemphasize the "pouch." What you don't want is anything with a low sash or basque waistline (this is the waistline that makes a low tight V, and then the skirt spills out from underneath), because those will draw attention to the pouchiness.

  7. a bit of a lower stomach:: is called a BEER BELLY!!!

do all of us a fav and dont get married youll ruin the dress

j/k u should be ok i design dresses it will adapt to your figuer

  8. From your description, it sounds like your "pouch" is largely imaginary... I'm sure you'll be fine in this dress. If in doubt, try it on.

  9. I think it will be fine but, if you're really worried, you could try one of those body slimming undergarments.

  10. I don't think you would need to have a flat stomach. My mom's bff had a dress similar to that one and she is very curvy...and looked just fine in it.

  11. That dress looks like it has a corset type bodice with sewn in boneing so it will make your belly look flat.  That dress is gorgeous..I just love it!

  12. Oooo.... Pretty!!! *pretends to pet dress*

I don't think you would need a flat stomach to wear that dress... it looks like it's a corset style bodice to me... so i think it will be fine, but I would try it on to make sure though...

ADD: if you have one of those stomachs (the one that I wish I had XD) then you really should be fine... and to help get rid of that annoying pooch when you do crunches (if you do them) suck your tummy in and that should flatten it a little more..

  13. I've never specifically worn that dress, but based on the waste line, I'm pretty sure anyone can wear it! It would look BETTER on someone with a flat stomach, only because it looks very fitted, but it can be made to look AMAZING on any type of person.

    Good luck

  14. They might show up. The best bet is to find one similar and try it on, and maybe you can try to do a little crunches just in case

  15. It looks to me as if this dress would hold you in with the dropped waist and all. Don't forget there are some amazing new products out there to hold you in wherever you want without sacrificing discomfort.  Remember, all brides look absolutely radiant no matter what size they are. Buy the dress you want and enjoy your day. Congratulations!

  16. that's a beautiful dress and I'm sure curves won't be too noticeable since its not really tight on your lower body, and if you get the dress in the right size and perfect fit it shouldn't show that you have a lower stomach.

    I hope that helps:D

  17. I think it would be okay, but you would need to get like a corset or a girdle or something of that nature if you're worried about smoothness.

    I hear SPANX work great!

A lot of pageant girls and brides wear them.

  18. actually that can enhance your curves dear.  if youve got a bit of a tummy, you could always wear some kind of girdle/lingerie underneath for support.  happy nuptuals

  19. nope i think it would perfect for "curves" actually and its pretty =)

  20. it's hard to tell where exactly the skirt starts to flare out. It should be forgiving of a little tummy, but you may want something underneath to hold everything in just in case. You won't really know until you try it on!

  21. No I actually think that would be a good dress to hide it because of the detailing on the bodice. Try it on.

  22. I think this dress would be flattering to a more curvy figure so i dont think it would matter if you had a bit of a tummy. Why, is it a shotgun wedding? Joke.

  23. You don't need a flat stomach. The dress is beautiful and looks forgiving. Try it on, and if you have lumps that show through, it nothing a body shaper cannot smooth.

  24. No, I think it would look great on anybody. It looks like a corset type dress anyway so it will give your waist a smaller look. Plus, you can always get a gurdle or tummy shaper.

  25. actually I think it would pull everything in (comfortably) and give you a very defined waste....I too am in your boat, and had a dress made similarly and it really helped!

  26. that type of dress should suck your stomach in after buttoning it up.

  27. I would say so. If you have too much of a stomach your b***s will disappear. if your stomach is an issue pick a dress (even strapless) with an empire waist. will make your stomach disappear and b***s appear larger.

  28. go aheadd. its pretty. its your day wear whatever you want. ive seen very heavy brides wear dresses like that and still look beautiful!

  29. It'll show your stomach a bit, but the volume of the bottom and the v-shape of the decorations will balance everything out. If your problem area is just the lower stomach, it might even hide it completely, depending on how tall you are. It's very easy to hide imperfections under a dress like that- just get a good corset or body shaper.

The only types of dress that you should really avoid are sheath and very fitted mermaid dresses- those are very unforgiving.

  30. not at all, i think because of the flair just below the waist line, it would hide any imperfections! and the top would be tight to it would also help flatten it out.

  31. I think a flat stomach would best suit this dress... if you have a small pooch it would be ok too because you would would be able to wear one of those spank things with it
