I've just taken my Bosiet offshore safety cert and medical. I'm a welder by trade and am trying to just get a foot in the door. I've been told to go off as a roustabout to make it easier for a start. But having just paid £650 and £120 for both certs i dont really want to shell out for a green hand approx £800 if i can help it.

  1. hi the problem with tryin to get work offshore is experience you may have it onshore but offshore is a different story you need it there. i did my green hand training in november last year and i must have sent hundreds of emails and letters and had no look getting work so far . but there is no harm in tring to get work as a welder you may get lucky dont just email or send letters to companies or agencies ring them once a week so they no your keen get on first name terms with the people you talk to.
