  1. I believe you need you PhD to teach at any college.

  2. Most often, a Master's Degree in your field of Study

is required at most Community Colleges. Often, for

advanced positions such as Chairperson, you will

require an MFA (Master of Fine Arts) MBA (Master

of Business Administration or Ed.D (Doctorate of

Education) or a Ph.D. (Doctorate of Philosophy or also

    called a Doctor of Letters)

The standards for teaching at Community Colleges are

on par with the teaching requirements in Higher Education.

  3. ?

  4. of corse. you have to have some type of masters degree in able to to even tech a class. but it all depends on which class you are teaching

  5. Yes. A Masters is the minimum level. Your degree should be in the field you are teaching. Check out any job posting for any community college to see an example.

  6. Shelby, above, has it!

The general rule is the minimum at any college is one degree higher than the program you are teaching.  Of course, the higher the degree the more likely you will find a position and the more likely you will obtain tenure / full professorship.

When I was teaching at the secondary level, I was approached by a community college that wanted me to teach part time.  My qualifications: 2 undergrad degrees, some masters level credits, good reputation.

At Purdue I had several teachers with Masters, no PhD - but lots of real world experience.  They were the best instructors too!

  7. It all depends...

A master's degree is desired; however, to be an adjunct instructor you need to be an EXPERT in what you are teaching. If you have  a lot of experience and are well-respected, you can possibly get a position. It depends on the head of the department.

I taught School-Age Care ( a 3 credit class)  at a Community College for four years in the ECH department. I have master credits--but not the degree. My BA is in psychology; however, among other things---I had experience as a program director, summer camp manager, school district trainer, and facilitated many seminars/work shops. I also was known for writing curricula and training materials and belonged to professional groups.

Often it is how good you are---and what you can offer.

Without reputation and experience----you would need a Master's Degree.

  8. I don't know? I thought slavery was a thing of the past....
