  1. "NO!

HD DVDs can NOT be played on a normal DVD player. I work for an electrical retailer and have to answer this question around five times a day. HD DVDs are far more tightly encoded than normal DVDs, a normal DVD player is incapable to reading them. Only a HD DVD player like the Toshiba HD-E1 can play them."

  2. you have to have a hdtv normally

  3. u can still watch the hd dvds on a normal tv but u need a hd dvd player which costs about $200-300. it won;t look any better than a dvd on a normal tv.

the reason the hd dvds r cheaper is cuz no one makes hd dvd players anymore. blu ray is now the flaghip hd technology.

  4. You can view HD DVDs (and Blu-ray disks) on a regular TV, but there would be very little benefit since you won't see any resolution improvement ... only a bit better colour ... and, if you have suitable audio equipment, some improved audio.

Furthermore, you have to have an HD DVD player (or Blu-ray player) to play the disks ... you can't use a normal DVD player.
