You do have to make an appointment because the U.S. has passed a law making it a requirement for everyone to see an optometrist to get their eyes fitted for contacts because contacts are considered a medical device. And yes, you still need a prescription even if you want them solely for cosmetic reasons rather than for vision correction.

Yes, If you do not already have them than you need to get a contact lens fitting and the whole cleaning,putting in,and out info.

But if you already have contacts than you can just ask for colored contactss when you get your new ones or you may need to call your OD depends from state to state ( you can order them offline) for comfort I try to stay in my same brand .

The contacts will be some sort of number that means the type of contact it is, basically how strong the contacts are. You can use that number of the contacts the doctor gives you to order colored contacts from a store. That way the contacts you have are correct for your eyes when you order them.
