I live in Windsor, Ontario, and cross the border back and forth between Detroit, Michigan all the time.  Don't just go with a photocopy; you may run into problems.  Go with your original birth certificate or, at the very least, a notarized copy of the same, if you can't provide the original.  Also,  make sure you have government-issued photo ID (your driver's licence).


  2. if your coming by air  and international, passport will do. I came from Asia, they just ask for my passport and travel docs.

  3. No you don't have to have the original copy, it can be photocopied. Trust me I just crossed the border because I moved to Alaska and I did the the necessary research. However, you do need a physic photo ID. No passport though! Check out these sites, they were really helpful!
