Do you have to have brass polish in the media to clean dirty brass?

  1. Brasso or Noxon 7 will clean metal and brass and make everything shiny and new looking. Both are sold in Home Depot, Lowes, or any hardware store.


  2. hey guy I take it you are talking about cleaning brass shells for reloading? I do not believe so but you would probably get better results posting this question in the shooting section.

    Anyway, for cleaning brass in general I like Brasso.  A good stiff brush to get built up gunk off most things - oil and elbow grease do wonders -then polish with Brasso and a piece of wool if you want a shine.  Make sure to wipe off the excess with a dry cloth- otherwise it will leave an oily, streaky film.

    There's a metal cleaner from a company called Wilton Armetale also - it's a piece of raw wool coated with a cleaning agent - comes in a can.  I use it for everything - you just tear off a piece of wool and get to it.  No dirty rags to deal with, you just toss the used bit of wool away!
