Yahoo mobile allows one to sign in to their mobile device while logging out of their yahoo messenger account. this means that u will recv msgs from friends who r online (typically these are offlines if u only logged off n did not login to mobile). To reply to msgs again, u need to just send as sms n if the friend u msg'ed is online at the time they will recv it on their pc screen as a normal msngr msg. So, in effect "U do not need internet" if u r using yahoo mobile to send/recv msgs using ur phone instrument.
