  1. In most states, no, it's not the law.  However, have you checked your local ordinances, as some cities and towns have passed laws against these dogs within the city limits.

  2. if you have a home - and you don't want to get sued if your dog bites someone.  PB's are harmless unless you teach it to be aggressive towards other dogs or people.

  3. Call your local animal control, they can tell you what the laws are for your area.  It's different everywhere.

  4. In some states and cities pits are banned. In others they are really strict on people owning pits so in some places you have to have pet insurance on your pit bull and lots of other bull c**p. talk to your local animal shelter or animal control to find out your regulations for "dangerous breeds"

  5. It depends on where u live. Pit bulls, rotties, dobermans, staffies are not bad dogs. Check with the animal control in ur rescue

  6. Someone is pulling your Leg.You don't need insurance just because you have a Pitt.We have Pitts and no one ever told us that.Your dog is covered under your homeowners Insurance in case he bites someone. If you train and sosialize  your dog and he or she is mellow you wont have any problems.Enjoy your Dog and don't let people scare you.

  7. In some places and others won't insure them at all. It's mostly because they have strong Jaws and do a lot of damage if they bit e another animal. Love them allot and treat them good to reduce your risk. If well trained they can be great, but I have had a bad experience with one. I won't get into that, but train them well.

  8. Some renters or home owners are required to get liability insurance if they have a "bully breed" dog.  Other then that, I don't know if your state requires you to have insurance on your dog or not.

  9. well people say you HAVE to because they think they are evil dogs, but you don't have to.  It is better so that if your dog were to get hurt insurance could help pay for it.  You can go on google and look up pet insurance.  I have my 3 pitbulls insured and registered.

Edit:  I just remembered my friend's uncle lives in some other country that you do have to have insurance on dogs like, Pitbulls, staffies, rotties, dobermans, and other "aggressive" dogs.

  10. Your home owners insurance provider could drop you if they learn you own a Pitbull.

Some cities have a ban on the dog.

You local animal control should be able to answer all of your questions about this.

Things vary from city to city as well as state to state.

Hopefully you live somewhere that doesn't penalize you from owning one.
