  1. Ok, who gave the two previous answers thumbs down and why?  I'm going to even it out by giving them thumbs up because they are CORRECT.

    Why do people give thumbs down when the don't like an answer?


  2. No, you don't. You stay in the air because of the forward motion. It doesn't matter if that's wind or just speed, it will work equally well. Paragliders can climb the same way as normal gliders do: by using thermals. That's basically a column of hot air. Hot air rises so if you stay in such column you will climb up with the air. Wind has nothing to do with that
