  1. yes like hobbies

  2. preferably at the end of your CV, be brief with your interest and only point out key things as employers are always looking out for thing that are easy to read and stand out.

  3. No.  You don't HAVE to - you can include whatever you want!

But employers like it because they want to know a little bit more about you, and not just your previous jobs.

Be honest.  You can say you like to go out and party with your friends - at the end of the day, the person who is looking at your CV does aswell!!

Other good things to include are hobbies such as musical instruments (playing guitar/piano), sports (do you like ice skating, or playing football), reading (maybe mention what kind of books you like), computer games (although I wouldn't recommend saying you spend 4 hours a night on X Box Live!)

Heck, even particpating o Yahoo! Answers could be one of your hobbies - it's socialising and a way of learning new things!

Fit lots in, but keep it brief.  Remember it isn't the most important part of your CV

  4. Yes you do, hobbies and interests....do you like tv, dvd, cinema, reading books, swimming, cycling,   Interests....like foreign travel, saving the planet, (carbon footprint) You can put anything, I just gave you a few ideas if you're stuck!....Interviewers like this, it 'breaks the ice', as it were, and gives topics to talk about, it also gives them an insight to your personality.....Oh good luck!

  5. No you don't have to, and actually I would recommend that you don't unless you have something particularly interesting and/or impressive to highlight.

As an example, I recently received a CV from a woman who had trekked Mount Everest.  Another person was the Scottish national kickboxing champion.  Those are great achievements and are worth including because it makes you look like you are determined to put in effort and train hard for something and not give up until you achieve it.

The only other reason you might wish to include it is because you're looking to move to a job in a field which you don't have work experience in, but you do have a strong personal interest in the area, and perhaps you have a hobby which will demostrate this.

However, if you're going to list mundane things like "socialising, shopping, playing football" etc like most people do - and let's face it, this is all that most people do in their spare time - then I would recommend that you omit the entire section.  Or, some people try to make up things that they think sound very impressive and unusual, but in fact make them sound pretentious and obscure - like the CV I received the other day from the man stating that he "collects Chinese propaganda posters from the 1950s".

Let's put it this way - every single word on your CV should be focussed toward selling you as a great fit for the job that you're applying to.  If the Hobbies section doesn't do this, it doesn't need to be there.
