Do you have to install HD, or is it already set-up when you buy it?

You need an HD source. If you are currently running a cable straight from the wall to your current TV for Cable TV, to get HD in most places you will need a Digital HD box from your cable company. This will tune in the HD channels coming off the cable then hand HD signal to your TV via either Component (red, blue green for video+ red and white for audio) or an HDMI cable which carries digital HD and audio in one USB-like cable.

If you are using an over the air antenna you will need to do a channel scan from the television's menu to find the Channels in your area. Some will be analog (until early next year) some will be standard definition digital and some will be digital and carry HD programming in prime time. Best first show to watch on your HDTV-CSI:Miami.

If you get a television with HD or High Definition then it will be there when you buy it.  If you dont have it then you are out of luck and would have to purchase a tv with it.
