  Do you need to know how to fly to teach someone to pilot a plane?

How can you choreograph if you don't know the moves?  Now, you don't have to be a good dancer to choreograph- but you have to know the moves!

Choreographers are people who show others how to dance, step by step, so yes... You would need to know how to dance, and be very good at it to be in business.

How else would you teach your moves? Besides, even if you could get around that, what dancer would take a choreographer who can't dance seriously. You'd never get any work.
