Do you have to know how to wakeboard before you can wakeskate?

I'm looking to learn how to wakeskate, but I've never wakeboarded, or wakeskated ever..

is it possible to be able to wakeskate without ever wakeboarding previously?

Absolutely not. Although i think it is easier to learn wakeboarding first you should be able to learn to wakeskate. With a good "teacher", some balance, and a little "can do" attitude I don't see why you couldn't learn without knowing how to wakeboard.
