  1. No not necessarily. My uncle is a captian and he lives at home a lot not just an army base, but some people have to. It depends what kind of troop you are. Same in U.K.

  2. Yes, if you are single and if you are married and at least an E4 and above, you may have an option of living off post or in housing that is provided for US Army personnel on post.

  3. no that is up to you. however there are benefits to living in base housing.  No rent.

  4. No he does not. He is very likely to have the privilege of obtaining off base housing if he can afford it. Sometime, military salaries do not pay enough for him to live off base. He can research and find a place he can afford if he chooses, but he will save a lot of monet if he lives on base.

I hope my answer helps him to decide which way ge wants to go. Tell him I said good luck and Thank him for serving our country. I am an old viet nam veteran and i am very proud of him.

  5. If your single and E-4 or under your chances of getting approved for off base housing are slim to none, unless you're on a post where barracks space is tight. Then you can apply but priority goes to the higher ranks.

The Army is on a budget so it usually won't approve the extra cost. If you decide to do it own your own you will pay your own rent and still be responsible for maintaining your barracks room and details.

  6. No

  7. No, you dont have to, but its great for paying the bills! They give you a BAS (basic allowance for sustinance) and a BAQ (basic allowance for quarters) if you choose to live off base.
