Do you have to pay a subscription to have a video camera connected to your computer ?

I purchased Logitech video cameras. One for me and one for my daughter in another state. We want to be able to talk and see each other and see my granddaughters. Do we have to be signed up to a subscription and pay for the service? I thought we just connect and use and will be able to talk and see each other daily>

You don't have to pay a subscription, but you do have to use some sort of chat program. You can use Skype, AIM, or a variety of other programs for free. You would start to chat with her and then activate the camera.

you need some kind of software like Windows Live Messenger to interface with the camera.  you also need the correct drivers installed.

once both computers are connected to the internet and signed on to some sort of service (Live Messenger is popular and free), you can begin a video call.
