  1. Yes usually a kitten is $50-$75. and an adult is about the same!

  2. yes u do have to pay the animal shelter needs money so they can buy food for the rest of the animals.

  3. Yes, they will charge you an adoption fee.  But this is actually cheaper for you in the long run than getting a kitten for free because they already come spayed/neutered, have all their shots, and often are micro-chipped.  Adoption is a great way to get a new pet.  Good luck!

  4. Yeah, they need a way to pay for the food/housing/vet bills for the animals that stay there.

I work at the ASPCA in NY and it's 175 for a kitten, 100 for an older kitten, and 75 for an adult. I think it's 175 for a puppy and 100 for a dog, I'm not so sure about that though. Each shelter is different, I know at North Shore (which is upstate) it's around 200. Call the shelter and check. It's good you're adopting, and it will be cheaper than buying. Look around a lot of different shelters to be sure you've found the right cat for you.

    have fun!

  5. yes you do. but yahhhh!! I LOVE CATS their so cute. i also love dogs!

  6. yes $100 for a chip and $100 for vaccinations and you have to pay for the dog which is probably only $50

  7. yup

  8. yes but kitty are usllaly cheap and they are neuter toi

  9. Yes there usually is an adoption fee for animals

  10. yes but it isnt as much for a cat as it is for a dog. it is also for them to get spayded or nutured. but if you don't  got the cash now you can be a foster parent to which ever animal you want dog or cats to i think. What that means is that you can bring the animal home with you for the weekend and play with it and get it some exercise just to let it out of it's cage for a while then take it back on Monday. Its called the foster care program at my shelter. they will give you some food and any medication they may be on, and you can have that pet for a while. Its a great program. call your shelter and ask if they do that and mabe get one started there if they don't. good luck

  11. yes, they call it a donation.  it can range anywhere from $20 to $150

  12. Oh yes, of course you do.  They mostly rely upon the fees you pay in order to stay open.  The animals are clean, have had their shots, etc.  It's a lot less expensive than a pet shop even for pure breds and you know what?  They are always healthier and happier coming from a shelter.  So yes you have to pay, but it's money well spent and less (much less) than from a breeder or pet shop whether you get a mixed or full bred kitty.

    Good luck!

  13. Go to craigslist.org, go to your city, and you will find all kinds of kittys free for adoption, good luck to you

  14. Yes, shelters need to get some of the costs back from caring for their animals. Many of them are spayed/neutered and given shots while they are at the shelter. Not to mention food and other supplies. The cost varies depending on the shelter so you should give them a call or check out their website.

  15. Yes, but the adoption fee is usually fairly low (anywhere from $25-$150 depending on the individual shelter), and it's generally much cheaper for cats than it is for dogs.

  16. yes usually anywhere from $30-$100, but you get a cat that is up to date with most of the vaccinations if not all, and a microchip and 1 free vet visit and some will even give you a discount on spay/neutering or your cat will already be spayed/neutered.

if you get a free kitten most likely you will have to pay for all of that yourself.

  17. yes. Here its like $100 for a puppy, $50 for an adult dog..I'm not sure about cats...but, i think they would be cheaper.

  18. yes so they can get there shots
