Do you have to pay council tax if you live on your own and are under 18? Or is it only single persons discount you can apply for?

  4. I dont know about under 18..... but I was 18 when I got my own place and got single persons discount. Cant remember how much discount it was cos it was 10 years ago!!!

  5. A person under 18 is disregarded for Council Tax purposes - if that person is the only occupier of the property then they entitled to claim a Class S exemption until they turn 18 at which point they are liable for Council Tax less any relevant disregards.

    once you are 18 you get a 25% ddiscount if you live alone

  8. Hi I work fo local council,  you cannot legally be liable for council tax until you are 18, then when you are 18 you can claim a single person discount, but until you are 18 you will be exempt
