  1. A Pastor is a professional and like all professionals he attended college and possibly grad school.  Now let me ask you this.  You go to a lawyer or a doctor and have them do work for you.  Do you pay them?  There's your answer.

  2. You definitely need to pay the preacher.  It varies by location, but customary is 100 - 250.

The church varies greatly, and I do mean greatly.  Sometimes, you can just make a donation; others can be 1,000 or more.  So be sure to ask that question.

  3. we arent having to but we will be tipping the pastor..

  4. Yes, especially if it isn't your home parish.  You will have to pay for the pastor's service, musicians, and the church itself ususally.

If you are using your home parish usually the use of the church is a "gift" to you, but there is still a customary donation to the church to cover the cost of the pastor's services.

It usually runs from $150-500 depending on the church, but some churches charge up to $1000 with everything (music, etc).

  5. Most churches require a donation and some ask for specific amounts to be given to either the church, the pastor or both.

You'll definitely pay something, but the amount depends on the church and their policy

  6. If you cannot afford it then the answer is sometimes yes, sometimes no. It depends on the church (denomination as well as individual church). However, the general guideline is between 3 and 10 % of your wedding budget (depends on if you attend at the church regularly and how much you're spending/can afford). It would be in very poor taste to have, for example, a catered dinner for 150 and not give a stipend.

  7. Usually yes, but speak to the pastor and explain your situtaion. He may waive the fee(s).

  8. yes you have to give them a donation. most churches will tell you the amount they want you to donate. for my church it was $400

  9. Im in the middle of planning my wedding which is to be held at a local church & the fees that ive been told which are national government fees are approx. $400 pounds. A lot i know i had quite a shock wen i was told by the vicar and thats just the basics.  I think it costs $80 pounds just to rings the bells!!! It's unbelievable init especially since a registry office only costs about $150 pounds.

(ps- my pound sign isnt working on my pc) lol!

  10. you sure do have ot pay its all money
