Do you have to pay to cross the border to America from Canada?

If so, how much is it?

I might be driving to America this summer, I don't know yet, but if I do, I'd like to know how much it is, or if you even have to pay. I'm from Canada by the way.

No payment required.  Just be prepared to spend some time there to be inspected and show your passport and stuff.

There is no fee to cross the border. May I ask where you heard this? However, you will be asked questions about your citizenship, purpose of visit to the US and you may have your car searched. Nothing nasty - just routine. Please make sure you have some ID. A birth certificate will do but a passport will be a lot better!
