  1. It depends on the seller, they will list there payment options in there add, try getting a prepaid credit card if you need one to shop/

  2. If the seller says they will only accept paypal, then you have to pay that way.

There are sellers on ebay who will allow you to pay with other ways.  Whatever you do, never, ever send your money via wire transter.  Those are usually scam artists.

Also, only send money order or check  to those who have good feedback.  If you don't pay through paypal, you won't be offered any protection but, like I have said, if you stick with the people who have decent feedback, you should be alright.

Many times, I would purchase gold and silver coins and the seller wouldn't accept paypal.  Each time I received my items.

This allows you protection via ebay (I believe it's up to $200.00--check on that though to make sure).  Paypal will ensure you're protected up to $2000.00 (I think if a seller is new to ebay, that seller may only have paypal protection up to  $200.00),  This makes them the best when it comes to getting all of your money back if you don't receive the item.

If you see the seal with ebay protection or paypal protection, then you will know you are protected.

When you send check or money order, make sure you send it certified mail or, at least, with confirmation.
