hi i had bearded dragons before and the man in the pet shop said to pull there head off so that they dont eat the bearded dragons insides.but when you pull there heads of there guts and insides come out so basically my bearded dragon was eating the skin of the mealworm.

can someone please tell me if this is how you feed them mealworms as ive bought 2 baby bearded dragons and need to know what to do with these mealworms before i feed them.

do you pull there heads off or feed them as they are?

  1. Feed them as is.  Nobody in nature is going to pull their heads of.  And if it is important, the bearded dragon, will do what it has to do.

    Peace.

  2. It is a myth that mealworms can eat their way out of a lizard. I had heard this and asked the owner of Armstrong Crickets, and he laughed. He said soon as the lizard swallows it, their stomach acids kill the mealworm plus there's no air for them to breathe. And when I had beardies, they would usually chomp down on the mealworm, probably killing it before they even swallowed it. So it's perfectly safe to feed live mealworms.
