Do you have to put the sensor from the Nike+ system in your shoe/sock or could you put it in an arm band?

The sensor senses your foot strikes, so if it is not in your shoe, I doubt it will work.  If you don't have an iPod you can buy the wristband, but that requires a sensor in your shoe as well.
