  1. This really depends on your goal and your fitness level. If you are starting to run for the very first time, then you should really ease into the whole process. Running 30 Min's continuously is a chore for those who are not accustomed to it. Start out slow. Run for as long as you can (even if its only 5 minutes) and then walk for half that amount of time. Continue that progression (5 min run, 2.5 min walk, 5 min run, 2.5 min walk), 3~4 times for the first week, then add a minute (6 min run, 3 min walk). Eventually you will get to the point where you feel more and more comfortable with running the longer length of time. As you build up your stamina decrease the amount of walking by first turning it into a very slow jog. At this point the goal should be to walk only if you have to. It will all happen pretty quick. I would say, without knowing your fitness level, that this could all happen in a month or two, if you stick with it. My suggestion to you is to get the best pair of running shoes that you can afford. Go to a running specialty shop (Here in Virginia we have VARUNNER). They will assess your needs, evaluate your running style, gaite, etc and then recommend shoes that will work best for you. I personally like the Nike Air Vomero 2's, but everyones feet and preferences are different. Good running shoes are vital and will keep you free of injury. Check out apple's Nike Plus gear if you have an iPOD. They are really great for tracking your training and keeping you motivated. Hope this helps.

  2. i started running for about 10 min continuesly, after a  few weeks i now run 50 min.

  3. It depends a lot on how fit you are, and how much running you've done in the past.

generally, references like these mean at one time.  However, many beginners would be frustrated if they tried to run for 20 minutes, because they aren't able to.  The trick is to start small, maybe 10 minutes, or 15 minutes, and to work your way up to the 20-30 range over the course of a month or 6 weeks.

If you'd like to, you can run 20-30 over the course of the day.  However, it doesn't give quite the same benefits as doing it in one session.

    Hope it helps!

  4. I'm in cross country, so we run 8-10 miles at once.. so I guess its continuously, but throughout the day is healthy for you too. either way is good (:
