Do you have to sign up for a behind the wheel before you take your driver's permit test-california?

i know you have to do behind the wheel while you have your permit...but are you required to be signed up for it prior to getting your permit? because that's what i heard.

You need the permit first and then sign up for the required behind the wheel training with a professional instructor. You should also practice with a parent.
