  1. yes. You can prove this sometime by holding your nose while eating something like an apple. The taste will not be there. It is hard to distinguish from say raw potato.

  2. nope you can taste without smell...

HOWEVER smell effects taste.. so quiet often you can't identify WHAT you are tasting without the smell.

  3. Pinch your nose, eat some different foods and find out :p

  4. Yes. Most of the taste you perceive is as a smell.

  5. Most of taste is actually smell; checkout this link...

  6. Most of what we taste is actually smell, which is why food is "tasteless" when you have a cold. There are only four or five pure tastes, picked up by the taste buds on the tongue, rather than by the nose. They are sweet, salty, sour, bitter, and (possibly) savory. Try closing off your nose and placing a few salt crystals on your tongue. You should be able to taste them. Better, do it blindfolded and have someone give you either sugar or salt. Can you tell the difference?

  7. smell the thing first then tell it good or bad

  8. nope I just eat it
