at my school i just got thrown into debate... and it's really not that hard!

I would look for the course catalog on your school website and usually it says if there are any prerequisites for a certain course. So, look for Debate in the catalog and see if the prerequisite is Speech.

You do realize that this depends on what high school you go to right? There isn't even a class called "speech" at my school so I certainly can't answer that. Ask your guidance counselor. There job is to answer those questions.
