Do you have to take the O-levels before you take the A-levels?

Ok im very confused, so far ive lived all my life in the USA but know ill be moving to pakistan or dubai. Ive alreayd completed 10th grade and will be starting 11th seen. Ive studied the british medium education system and ive felt itd be the best path for me but, was wondering will I have to take the O-levels before I take the A-level since O-levels are considered as 10th grade in those countries (or are they?)
