Do you have to take your contacts out for a check up to see if those contacts work for you?

Or do they check your eyes with them in? Because if so I am going to wear eye makeup and if I have to take them out, Im not.

  1. If he just gave you those contacts to try out for a week or so then he will check your eyes with them in... just to make sure that they fit properly and are an accurate strength....

    If you havent been there in a year or so... then yeah you'll have to take them out to see if your presciption has changed.


  2. Yes you will have to take the contacts out if you are gonna have a check up. Some opticians actually state that you should have them out for a couple of hours before the check up. They need to check the health of your eye without the lens in so yes is the answer to your question. They probably will also check your eyes with the lens in but only after they have checked the health of the eye and they will use a set of plano lenses (trial lenses without a prescription) to see if the lens prescribed sits right on the eye, the base curve of the lens, etc. By the way you should be able to take your contacts out without ruining your make-up. My partner wears contacts & doesnt mess up her make up when she takes them out or puts them in.

    But yeah I'm going for a checkup now and if I remember correctly last time I had to take them out because they put some dye in your eyes to check for scratches
