Do you have to take your drivers license test in your same county?

Live in Nevada, simply wondering if I could take my test in another county, I know that it is all state regulated, however, since my mailing address is in another county, would they refuse me?

Also, what if I was just to get a P.O box up in that county for a little bit, and then do a change of address forum?

  1. DMV is run by the state, not the county, so it doesn't make any difference what county you take the test in.

  2. No they probably won't turn you away. Like you said it's state regulated.

  3. No just in the same state.

  4. You can't use a mailing address for residence, you don't live in a box!  Some places will let you use the DMV of choice, many will make you use the facility closest to your street address.  You will actually have to ask at the DMV, because websites always tell you where the nearest test centre is.  They really don't want people shopping around.  If you live in a city for instance, and take your test in a small town with no traffic, there is a very real danger that you will have an accident the first time you venture into traffic alone.

Where I live for instance, I am in easy driving distance of 3 centres.  At one time, if I was taking a test, I had no choice I had to go t only one centre, and that was one twice as far away as any of those 3, because that was the assigned one.  If I were taking a test now, I would have a choice of 2 of those 3.
