  1. its up to you. whenever you are on the tee you have the advantage of hittin the ball off a tee, i personally i tee it up with a wood everytime unless it is extremely windy and i have to hit the ball low.

  2. Yes tee the ball up.  Tee the ball high with the driver to help produce a better launch angle.  3, 5, hybrids tee them up 1/4-1/2 inch to help you pick it clean.

  3. Technically, no, there are no rules that state you must use a tee when teeing off with any kind of club.  The majority of people do use a tee mainly because they get better contact with the ball (especially with a driver or wood), resulting in more distance.  But depending on the course, weather conditions, and personal habits, using a tee is really up to you.

For instance, if there is a strong headwind, or if your trajectory is unusually high, either not using a tee or teeing the ball lower will reduce the launch angle, promoting lower ball flight, and adding to roll distance once the ball is on the ground.

But on the contrary, if you trajectory is low, teeing the ball higher will allow you to hit the ball higher up on the club face, making the ball travel higher and increasing carry distance.

    Hope this helps.

  4. you don't have to when you tee off, but to use the clubs gear effect ("Gear effect" is the term used to describe the action of the clubhead, during impact with the ball, that causes a shot hit off the toe to curve in a draw or hooking motion, and a shot hit off the heel to curve in a fade or slicing motion.-aboutgolf.com) you should.  It definitely helps.

Honestly, you should tee up every time you start a hole, regardless waht club you use.  It worked for Jack Nicklaus.

  5. teeing the ball up lowers the risk of striking the ball on top. its up to you and its your decision. do what feels right. or go to the range and see which method works better for you.

  6. No, because it's not breaking any rules to do either.

  7. No you do not have to tee the ball up when you hit a wood. There's no reason for it either.

    Have a good one...

  8. You don't have to, I tee up my 3 wood cause its a bit bigger, but since my 5 wood is so small, I hit it right off the deck

  9. The tee generally increases the chances of you hitting the sweet spot of the club. By elevating it a few mm off the ground for irons and much further off the ground for Drivers, you maximize the loft of your club meaning you get better lift and elevation, hence a longer hit.

When I tee off with a 1 wood, ill usually raise the tee so that when the ball sits on it, half of the ball is covered by the driver. For 3 wood - Sand wedge, I press the tee down right to the grass to avoid any odds of hitting with a poor lie. On some par 3's, I just dont use the tee at all.

Its really horses for courses. If you feel you need the tee, use it, otherwise do whats best for your swing. The tee will assist you in some way so be sure to make the most of that first shot freedom.
