  1. Yes, I live in Salt Lake and that is the law.  Of course obviously no one follows it...

  2. In California, if there is only one left turn lane, you may turn into any lane.   On a right turn, you MUST turn into the right lane.   So Johnny, might want to watch yourself in Cali!

If there are multiple turn lanes, then you must follow the lane markings in the street, and/or use common sense and courtesy, and watch yourself!

I can't vouch for Utah but I believe most of this is standard nationwide.

  3. You are required by law to turn into the closest lane available.  You can then pretty much immediately click on your right turn blinker and merge over, as long as you initially go into the closest (leftmost) lane.

  4. Yes, it will keep you from running into the car thats to your right, MINE! Large cities with large intersections have theses, but some people believe they are the only ones on the road that day. Please don't get in the left lane of  two left turn lanes  just to get into the right lane (curb side) just yards after making the turn. Try it sometime, get in that right lane and see how many people want to change lanes or don't hold their turn tight enough to stay in their lane.....and the cell phone.....hang it up!

  5. A good tip is go into the lane that doesn't have a car in it. I HATE when idiots rush out in front of me and then get into the lane that I'm in instead of just turning into whichever lane I'm not currently in. That way you get over safely and I don't have to worry about jamming on by brakes to avoid hitting you.
