I have a water-retention problem so I may not be able to walk much after a 7 hour flight.

  1. Probably. Frankfurt Airport is the WORST Airport I have ever been through. Every time I have changed planes there It has been a horrible experience. You normally land at one terminal and leave from another terminal which may be a 30 or 40 minute walk, up stairs, down stairs, through security etc. I am amazed that the Germans, with their reputation for efficiency, operate such a horrible airport.

  2. As the others already mentioned, yes it can happen that you have to walk a while. That is the way it is at the most big airports worldwide. All the gateways have these rolling runways for visitors to make it easier.

If you are on transit, you do not have to go upstairs, downstairs or thru the security. Just follow the transit signs.

There are only 2 Terminals right now. To get from one to the other there is no need to walk 30 to 40 minutes. Just use the skytrain ! Yes they have one, how surprising. ;-)

  3. It always depends where your previous Plane has parked at which gate, and at which gate is your next flight. You can always book for a wheel-chair when u book your flights at no extra cost.

so that this wouldn't be a big problem for you.

Yes the airport is massive and one has to walk a lot. depending upon the gate at which your next flight would originate from.

  4. All of the times i've been there i've had to walk a LOT for my connection, but i guess it depends on what gate you arrive at and where your departure gate is; i've never had a short walk at that airport though.

  5. Depending on where your plane debarks at, you should only have a ten or fifteen minute walk to the nearest toilet.  If I were you, I'd refrain from drinking any beverages for the last hour of your flight, and use the bathroom as close to landing as possible.

If your flight debarks at Terminal 1, it's a short walk to the USO, car rental, or the train station.  All three are located on the lowest level.

I get swollen feet on long flights (BADLY swollen), and I do fine at Frankfurt.

  6. If you need a toilet, they are everywhere and they are clean. If you have a problem after sitting in an airplane for to long, walking is the best therapy.

  7. Answering  your question it is true that it will depend on which gates you have to use, if you have connecting flights. The distance between Terminals and connection times.

They do of course have WC (toilets n the Planes over that Seven hours also and if the economy are too small due to what ever I am sure they would accommodate you in Business class rest rooms.

I have been to that airport over 30 times in my life and have seen many changes from my first time until my last visit. I a await to see new changes when I come back this year

Their are plenty of public WC (Restrooms) WC is the initials they use to indicate Restrooms. They will be all over the terminals.

Last resort, ask your Dr and the Airline company you are using and see what they suggest to you
