  1. ya

becasue you are going to be diving and a hole bunch of other stuff that could make your shorts come off

and it would just be easier to not have to worry about that

  2. I took lifeguarding classes. And yes you have to wear a one piece bathing suit. Any other tips practice practice. I worked for Six Flags Wyandot Lake, in Ohio two years ago and let me tell you know your stuff, dont take the class lightly peoples lives are at your hand. My best friend works at a Rec Center and has jumped in to assist people so make sure your ready and also alert. 10 seconds to see the person 10 seconds to jump in to assist the person. Always scan your water!!

  3. Yes.

It would be good to break into one piece swimsuits.

They won't come off like bikinis do.

Also, you can swim better in a one piece swimsuit.

  4. Not necessarily. I have seen some bikinis during classes at the YMCA.

Also, my niece is a lifeguard and where she works two-piece guards suits are allowed.

If you wear a bikini to class, make double sure all the ties are very secure.

Work hard, a life could depend on you.

  5. Not necessarily, but make sure you have a suit that you are comfortable in and wont slip off during lifesaving practice.

Check out the swimsuits here:  http://www.watersafetyproductsinc.com/

You will see that there are both one-piece and two-piece suits offered.  These types of suits are specifically designed for the kind of active swimming that Lifeguards do.

I've taught Lifeguard classes for more than 30 years and have seen some young ladies get embarrassed by trying to perform rescues while wearing ill-fitting or poorly designed suits.  It's really worth your while to acquire a suit specifically designed for lifeguarding.  Most competition suits would also work, but those are almost all one-piece.
