Do you hear any better in the dark?

If the lights are out, could you hear a pin drop? Is it possible to 'channel your focus' to another sense if another isn't at work at the time (like if you shut them, or can't see in the dark sort of thing)?

  1. it is for me, because there are no visual distractions. that's why i like to listen to music at night (though i usually have a dim light on in the corner)

  2. Yes, especially if it is quiet.

  3. if it is dark, your sensory preception will be better in your hearing because your eyes are not focused on anything. If it is someplace that is very still, you could even close your eyes and hear a pin drop.

  4. The reality is your ears and nerves transmitting the impulses work the same in light or dark.  Usually when it is dark there is less competing noise.  This cuts down stimulation of the nerves and allows m ore sensitivity to slight changes.  The lower noise and light levels associated with the dark cut out distractions. you can usually focus better.  Again this does not improve the physical process of hearing but it does increase sensitivity.

  5. NO - Plain and Simple

  6. You would think because your not really using your eyes as much, but i seem to hear better if i can see what im hearing so i suppose its down to concerntration.

  7. i think yes cuz you cant see, i think your body heightens to pick up sound better cuz you cant see danger, but could hear it better. I kno i can hear better in the dark. Like blind ppl cant see, but they hear ALOT better then people who CAN see
