  1. no im not an idiot.. its n abduction waiting to happen

  2. The only time I sort of hitchhiked was when I lived in Japan. I was stranded in Tokyo after the trains had stopped running and I got a ride with a Japanese guy who lived near my town. He was a perfect gentleman and was concerned that I would be bothered by "gangsters" if I stayed in the train station overnight. We chatted and smoked cigarettes (I was kind of nervous, what with the whole Stranger Danger fear) and he played Skid Row on his tape deck. It's not something I'd do on a regular basis, but on that occasion it turned out just fine and I didn't feel I could properly thank that guy for his help.

  3. Man,the sense of adventure really lights me up when I think about hitchiking.I stopped doing it when I was in the Navy in 1990's. However, when I was in uniform people would stop and offer me a ride without asking for it. The longest memorable ride I got was between about Niagara falls and outside Chicago, Joliet Ill. It entailed one flaming big rig accident and a midnight looksee of the "L" in Chicago. I remember waking up in a baseball field thinking I should really start living a little less dangerously. I don't miss it but it's one of those things you can never redo. Bus travel is cool now.

  4. Back in the late sixties and early seventies I used to hitch hike with my friends from place to place.  One day a car stopped and we ran up to the vehicle and the driver pulled a gun on us. (Just to warn us that if we tried anything.)  I have a 3rd degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do.  I took his gun from him and threw it in the gutter.  I decided that after that, that it was just to dangerous to hitchhike anymore.  It used to be that you could make a lot of friends on the road, but it aint that way anymore.  Hope you don;t try it these days.  People just don't care about each other anymore.

  5. No i do not hitch hike nor do i pick up hitch hikers and a general. I might pick up one if I am driving a pick up and it is illegal to transport poeple in the truck. I did pick one guy up because I was on a motorcycle an he was running down the highway barefoot, jeans and no shirt in 100 degree weather. I did not have the heart to leave him out there, and i figured he could harm me without harming himself.
