I'm a guy, so yes, I do honk.

I just can't let someone get away with cutting me off or taking my right away. Plus, here in the south most people SUCK at driving.

  1. Of course...how else would I be able to let a driver know they are about to run over me.  Horns are essential in safety as well.

  2. I try to only use it as a warning, but sometimes frustration at the poor driving of the other road user gets to me. However, I don't own a car, so am not that frequently behind the wheel, but I do cycle places. Having a horn sounded behind me is very unstabling when I'm riding as, despite being quite experienced, I can't help but feel vulnerable at times.

Here in the UK we are fortunate to have government guidelines on how to drive. Rule 92 deals with use of the horn. The rest of the Highway Code makes good reading too.

  3. I only use the honk if necessary to prevent an accident.  I don't use it as an anger management tool.

  4. Extremely rare.  I have once or twice, only if I think someone doesn't see me and they are backing out into traffic.  I couldn't tell you if my horn works or not except for the alarm system when I arm it.

    good luck.

  5. If they deserve a honk, I'm not shy to use it.  I'm female living in the southwest and drivers suck here too.  Believe it or not the best drivers I have encountered was when I was living in California.  Granted there are bad ones there too.  But mostly I had no really bad experiences there.
