For example.

No I can't because I've got to do [insert things to do].

Or do you not justify.

  1. I Do my best not to justify and I think people that expect you to give a personal explanation are the ruder than me choice not to justify myself.

    Exception are definitly dinner invitations or wedding invitations. The person inviting is spending money on the event so it is important to defer to etiquette. I always RSVP and and if I cannot come I simply say we are otherwise engaged.

I do, however it's something I'm trying to stop doing.  Explanations aren't necessary.  Those who feel they are tend to give little white lies.  If you say you cannot do something, you cannot do it, and that should be good enough for the person asking.  There are probably few people in your life who truly deserve a full explanation in situations like these.

  3. Depends on who I'm talking to.  Good friends, yes.  Acquaintances - no.

    no, i don't want... want to know why?
